Three friends laughing and enjoying a sunny day outdoors.

friends of harrington doodles

A small, invitation-only way to stay in touch—even if you’re getting a puppy elsewhere.

Over the years, I’ve had so many wonderful phone, FaceTime, Zoom, and in-person conversations with people who would clearly provide a loving home for a puppy. But as a smaller, well-established family breeder, my wait lists may be full.

Many families have asked if we might stay in touch or if I could be a resource in another way. That’s how the Friends of Harrington Doodles concept developed.

This page isn’t public on our website—so if you’re reading this, it’s because I provided the link after our conversation. You’re here because it’s clear that you’re a “puppy person” who appreciates my standards for health, nutrition, and early puppy development.

Who It's For

  • You’ve already spoken with me (Barbara) or one of my family members, and found the conversation helpful.
  • You may be thinking about holding out for one of our pups down the road—or you may be planning to get a puppy elsewhere. Either is fine!
  • You value ethical breeding, clear health practices, and foundational nutrition.

What We Provide

  • Puppy Toolkit (PDF, 7 pages): A supply checklist and our recommended setup for bringing your puppy home—designed to make the transition smoother and help you lose as little sleep as possible.
  • Two short Q&A calls (20 minutes each): Use them however you like; most families schedule one before the puppy comes home and one afterward.
  • “What to Look For” Guide (PDF, 2 pages): A concise checklist for evaluating other breeders and puppy options.
  • Priority email access for quick questions during your preparation window.
  • Occasional updates to the toolkit. Each year, I add a short FAQ with the five most common questions from the previous year (the 2026 update will include the top questions from 2025).
  • Text access is not promised, but you have my cell—if you need me, reach out and I’ll do my best to respond.
  • Optional annual check-in call (20 minutes) is a chance to review nutrition or training questions and stay connected as your dog grows.

What's Involved

The premise of the Friends of Harrington Doodles program is that you have access to me by doing something I have found bolsters a puppy's health: following our nutrition plan of a high quality kibble (Life's Abundance Dog Food) and daily supplement (NuVet Wafers.)

Purchases made through these links (on our website) provide a modest commission at no additional cost to you. I’ve used these products for many years and recommend them because I believe they are in the best interest of the dogs—and yes, that small commission gives me a little wiggle room to keep sharing my time and experience with people who want my guidance. For people who purchase a Harrington Doodle they are a requirement for the health guarantee.

I don't want anyone to jump in without doing their homework. We find that the more people know about our approach, the more the like it.  Read up on our nutrition plan by visiting the Food page on our site or viewing this comparison document. If you have questions, reach out. I'm happy to elaborate.

How To Join

  1. Begin the protocol for your future pup by ordering the food and supplements through our site. The products are shelf stable for well over a year, so it is okay to order before you have your pup. View Food page.
  2. Email me once you’ve placed your first order (I don’t regularly log into my portals, so a note through our contact page is helpful.) Email.
  3. Once you're order is confirmed, I’ll reach out via email, send your resources, and ask your preference for setting up a call. You do not need to schedule a call in our first communication. I'm here when you need me.

Duration & Ongoing Access

Friends status remains active for as long as you continue your recommended nutrition plan of Life's Abundance Dog Food and NuVet Supplements. Most families stay on it for years—it’s convenient, consistent, and helps their dogs thrive.

The Puppy Toolkit and two Q&A calls are provided when you join to help you start strong. After that, Friends are welcome to check in by email anytime for brief questions, and to reach out to me directly when you’d like to schedule your annual 20-minute call to review nutrition, training, or anything that comes up as your dog grows.

A Few Clarifications

  • Not a broker: I don’t place puppies for other breeders. I’m happy to share what to look for in a reputable, health-focused program and a concise checklist you can use during your search.
  • Health guarantees: Our health guarantee applies only to puppies from Harrington Doodles. However, we do know that what your puppy eats, particularly the first two to three years of their life, has a significant impact on their longevity and overall health.

Staying Connected to Kindred Spirits

Friends of Harrington Doodles is a fairly new endeavor, that frankly, I've been asked about for years. It's a way to stay in touch with people who appreciate my experience and willingness to share what I've learned.

It's an invite-only circle for people who share my commitment to health, nutrition, and ethical breeding. And who want to stay in touch, even if their puppy comes from elsewhere.
